Palm Tree swayed, reaching to cloud he shimmered and sang "Take me away with you my cloud, my breath." He reached his branches into the wind and asked the cloud whose gown was glorious in the amber light. "I want to float with you over the sea, I do not like being a rooted tree, I want to be with thee. I want to be pages of stories with you, delicate and heavy, soft and mysterious, I want to be with thee." "There are things I must do." Said the cloud to the tree. "I must lift the bird and make blankets for the hillside, I must sing to the meadow and make charms that glisten for morning light. Listen, my hand, my friend, every night when you breathe, I will sleep with thee, so stay in your roots and be a home for me."
Palm Tree
ReplyDeleteswayed, reaching to cloud
he shimmered and sang
"Take me away with you
my cloud, my breath."
He reached his branches
into the wind and asked
the cloud whose gown
was glorious in the amber light.
"I want to float with you
over the sea, I do not like
being a rooted tree, I want
to be with thee.
I want to be pages of stories
with you, delicate and heavy,
soft and mysterious, I want
to be with thee."
"There are things I must do."
Said the cloud to the tree.
"I must lift the bird and make blankets
for the hillside, I must sing to the meadow and make
charms that glisten for morning light.
Listen, my hand, my friend,
every night when you breathe,
I will sleep with thee, so stay in your roots
and be a home for me."
